A few years ago, many believed that the bulky, gas-guzzling full-size
SUV was on its way out as the world turned its attention to more compact, more
economical cars. Still, road behemoths like the Lincoln Navigator have
soldiered on, and fortunately there is still a market for them.
Buyers can choose between two drive options—a rear-wheel and an
all-wheel, with tow capabilities of 9000 and 8600 pounds, respectively. Those
who abhor the fact that the Lincolns of old went through gas like it was water
will appreciate that the 2016 Navigator now comes with a more fuel-efficient
3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine capable of posting 380 horsepower and 460
pound-feet of torque.
Fuel efficiency for the new engine is at 16 miles per gallon (mpg) in
the city, 22 mpg in the highway, and 18 mpg combined. Though these rates are still
on the low side of fuel economy, they’re considerably better than before.
Aside from improved power and efficiency, the new Navigator also boasts
new technology, most notably the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system that comes
with streaming audio, smartphone connectivity and other mobile technology.
Other equipment advancements for the latest Navigator include a power moonroof,
rear seat DVD entertainment system, remote start, and adjustable pedals.
Standard accessories include powered doors, windows and locks, cruise
control, a luxury audio system with USB connectivity and Bluetooth
connectivity, rearview camera, heated first and second row seats, ventilated
front seats, a power-folding third-row seat, leather trimmings, and
power-deploying running boards.
