2016 Lincoln MKZ in Gainesville, GA: Definitely Not the Ford Edge

As a luxury brand, it’s surprising how Lincoln has had more misses than hits. For the price range of its vehicles, you’d expect the opposite to be true. Fortunately for the car maker, one of their vehicles has managed to constantly come up in spades, and that’s none other than the MKX crossover SUV.

For almost a decade, the Lincoln MKX has managed to be the automaker’s biggest success. Even when stacked up against more established marques such as the Lexus RX and Audi Q5, the MKX has managed to sell and perform admirably as a premium-featured vehicle.

Sharing a platform with the Ford Edge, the 2016 MKX makes a stronger effort to distinguish itself from its more mainstream cousin. A streamlined powertrain, quieter cabin, more responsive ride and a beefier engine ensure that the latest MKX is successful in this regard.

Those who know the Ford Edge well won’t see any hint of the vehicle in the MKX exterior. From some angles, the vehicle could easily be mistaken for its fellow Lincoln nameplate, the smaller MKC. While the profile is more wagon-like this time around, the lines and sheetmetal on the side are sleeker and more voluptuous than before. The signature split-wing grille is a bit more horizontally stretched in this latest iteration, bookended by headlights which Lincoln views as blades and not simply projectors.
